Dior Paradise

This is the second part of the Dior Electric Tropics collection for summer 2011.  Paradise is a bright neon coral-pink...excellent for the summer.  I tried to take a lot of pictures and even after all these...I don't think that the color has been truly captured.

Dior Aloha

Nine years ago today, I married my best friend, who is the most kind, loving, caring and supportive husband.  For our honeymoon, we spent ten amazing days in Hawaii.  We started off in Oahu (great shopping) then in Lanai (what I wouldn't give for five days of seclusion, at this point in my life) and finished the trip in Maui (fun, fun, fun).

So, how appropriate to bring you Aloha from Dior's Electric Tropics collection for summer 2011. There were only two colors in the collection, Aloha and Paradise. Aloha is a bright vibrant orange and Paradise is a neon coral pink. Each shade comes paired with a glossy topcoat. I think both are fabulous colors for the summer.

Here's Aloha...my way of enjoying some Hawaii today.

Aloha was available at major department stores and the Dior website, but, Paradise was a Saks Fifth Avenue exclusive. Sold out even before the summer began. I am happy to say that Dior has brought both of them back and are available at dior.com for $26.00 for the set of polish and topcoat.

Until next time...

butter LONDON Spring Summer 2011

REMEBER: butter LONDON's FREE Royal Navy lacquer offer only good until tomorrow, 8/31/11.

Today's post is of the polishes from the spring/summer collection.  I actually picked up four of the five...no surprise there...Lady Muck, Teddy Girl, Blagger and Dosh.  I only have three to show you...a friend of mine borrowed Blagger.

Up first is Lady Muck.  butter LONDON describes this color as, "Powdery periwinkle blue, slightly on the grey side and infused with pearl pigment for a soft, sexy sheen."  I must say that this description is spot on.  This was two coats...perfect application.

Lady Muck

Lady Muck - here you can see the slight shimmer.

Next up, Teddy Girl, described as, "A pale retro bubblegum pink".   I think it's the perfect pink to wear as a neutral.  This was three coats...the first two were a little streaky.

Now Dosh...such a pretty color.  It reminds me of a gorgeous Granny Smith apple or it's alcoholic counterpart...The Sour Apple Martini.  I love this color the most out of this collection.  I think I may have a thing for green polishes.  This also was two coats and perfect application.

Dosh
These spring/summer colors are still available at www.butterlondon.com and retail for $14.00.

Until next time...

butter LONDON Autumn/Winter 2011 collection

I'm doing today's post on butter LONDON's autumn/winter collection, in case you want to take advantage of the FREE Royal Navy nail lacquer offer on their website.  I will post the spring/summer colors tomorrow.  I know it's backwards...but, I want to get as much butter LONDON posted as possible before the sale is over.  Starting tomorrow, I'm going to all the summer collections that I can before the unofficial end of summer, a week from today.  I can't believe it's already over :(

There are five colors that have been released.  Two of them are re-releases from the past.  Knees up was released previously as a part of a holiday collection from a year or two ago.  No More Waity, Katie is also a re-release from this past spring after the royal engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton.  It was limited edition back then and I was so happy to make it my own.  But now, it's readily available on their website, Nordstroms and other e-tailers.  So, if you missed it in March, pick one up now.

The three new ones are Wallis, Bluey and Toff, and of course, I got all three of them.  My favorites of the collection are No More Waity, Katie and Wallis and you will see why!

I didn't pick up Knees Up, it's not really my kind of color.  Red used to be a favorite when I was a child, but, now with all the colors out there...red is not as exciting.

First up, Toff...this is their neutral for the fall, with a little edge.  It's a darker, duskier rose pink...very pretty.

Next is Bluey...a nice peacock-y metallic.
Bluey

Bluey

No More Waity, Katie...a sheer jelly greyed out purple with beautiful purple glitter.  Its considered an "elegant greige with a splash of lilac glitter".  I really love it, but, it may not be for everyone.

Here is the one that captured my heart....Wallis.  It is a gorgeous tarnished, metallic regal olive green.  Could it get any better for fall/winter?  I am absolutely in love with this color.
Wallis

Wallis
I must have a thing for metallic olive greens...because it reminded me of one of my other favorites, Or de Russie, from Chanel's Moscou Collection.  I put them one next to the other and you can see that Wallis is much lighter and "greener" than Or de Russie, which is darker and looks more brown.

All are available at www.butterlondon.com, Nordstrom and other e-tailers for $14.00.

REMEMBER:  if you order from butterlondon.com, you will get a FREE Royal Navy nail lacquer!

The Muppet Collection by OPI

Supposedly there is a Muppets movie that is hitting theaters in November and OPI has come up with a nail polish collection that is due to come out at the same time.

The Muppets collection has 12 shades, six that are shades of red and a couple of neutrals.  The other six are nice bright sparkly glittery shades.

They are all limited edition and will be available at the beginning of November 2011 for $8.50.

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors

Sitting here watching "Keeping up with the Kardashian's" marathon and remebered that there is a new collection from Nicole by OPI for the Kardashians.  I'm actually a huge fan of Kim Kardashian, I think she's GORGEOUS.  I don't think this marriage of hers is going to last...but, that's another story.

Now, along with clothes for QVC and Sears, Sketchers, etc. etc. etc, they have their own nail polish line..aaaaahhhhh.  What else is left?

There are 14 colors that are being released and all are named for Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kris, Kendall and Kylie...the women of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.  I probably will be picking up a few that look cute.

They are getting released later this year, for the holiday season.

Will be available at Nicole by OPI for $7.99.

Top Row, left to right: All Kendall-ed Up, Sealed with a Kris, Kim-pletely In Love, Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam, Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi, Rainbow in the S-kylie.

Illamasqua "Raindrops"

So, here we are...in the midst of Hurricane Irene.  And what comes to my head..."raindrops keep fallin' on my head".

That is what inspired today's post.  Illamasqua's Raindrops.

Illamasqua is also a British brand that has the most vibrant and beautiful colors, with the most unique names.  Check out the website at www.illamasqua.com and find out for yourself.

Raindrops is really such a beautiful understated color from afar, but, when you look at it close...it comes to life.  A pale gray jelly polish with gorgeous glitter flakes all through out it.  Perfect for today.

Here you can see the glitter flakes on the nail and in the bottle.

                                                                     Closer look...

super close...just beautiful.

Well, I hope this post finds you in good health.

Raindrops can be purchased at www.illamasqua.com for 13.50 (British Pound).  Most other Illamasqua nail varnishes are available at Sephora for $14.00, but Raindrops isn't one of them.  It was one of the Illamasqua Nail Varnish Competition Winners and was a special release that is only available on the website or in London.

butter LONDON "Royal Navy"

Blue is going to be a huge color for fall...it seems that every brand is putting out at least one shade of blue polish for the fall.  Dior and Chanel are or will be offering multiple shades of blue.

butter LONDON is a great brand that I discovered a while back.  They offer really great colors that range from conservative pales to the deepest vampy colors, and everything in between.

Today, I'm swatching "Royal Navy".  butter LONDON is offering a FREE Royal Navy nail lacuqer with any purchase from their website.  So, you can check this great shade below.  Not only are their polishes great, but, I recommend the nail polish remover (pricey...but, very effective and smells GREAT!) and the stilleto stick is beyond fabulous.  The sale is good until Wednesday, August 31, 2011.  I own quite a few of their colors, so if there is a color that you are interested in, let me know.  If I have it, I can swatch it...happy shopping!

This was 2 coats.  Goes on nice and smooth.  As pictured, it's a nice deep navy creme color.

Retails for $14.00.  Can also be found at Nordstrom or nordstrom.com.

My Very First Post - Deborah Lippmann "Stormy Weather"

I finally did it...my very own blog on nail polish.

As with all the other nail polish blogs..I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE nail polish.  I remember painting my nails as a little girl...of course, RED!  As an adult, the polish that really started my addiction was Deborah Lippmann's Makin' Whoopee.  Why?  One, because of the name and two because of the color.  It must've been over 10 years ago, at the Sephora on Fifth Aveune, I was standing in front of a huge display of The Lippmann Collection (as it was called back then) in awe of ALL the colors and not knowing where to begin or what to choose.  I was literally like a kid in a candy store...or my version of it.  So, I chose Makin' Whoopee.

As I begin my blog...it also starts with a Deborah Lippmann polish.

Today, I have for you, "Stormy Weather", created with Narciso Rodriguez for Fall 2011.  Perfect for the impending hurricane that is supposed to hit the east coast tomorrow and Sunday.

Deborah Lippmann describes this color as "the ultimate deep granite creme shade"...so true.  It's a deep dark gray creme, but does NOT look black...indoors or out.  Really is a nice shade for the fall or winter.

It is a great color.  Goes on nice and smooth.  Opaque in two coats with no problems.  Easy to apply.

Retails for $16.00.  Can be found at Nordstrom.com, neimanmarcus.com, beauty.com, deborahlippmann.com.

Until next time...
