OPI Your Royal Shine-ness and OPI Servin' Up Sparkle

NEW YEAR'S EVE!  To everyone that had a great year...here's to another fabulous year.  To those who didn't...here's to better times ahead.

Here we are...the cusp of a new year...2012.  To help with the festivities, I've got a nice celebratory manicure.  It's OPI Your Royal Shine-ness and Servin' Up Sparkle was a set that was actually released over the summer as a part of the Serena Williams Glam Slam summer 2011 collection.

OPI Your Royal Shine-ness is a nice sparkly silver-y foil.
OPI Your Royal Shine-ness
Of course, by itself it's fine, but why not bling it up a bit...with OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.  OPI Servin' Up Sparkle is a clear base with small silver glitter and larger hexagonal holographic glitter.  Together it's a eye catching combo...perfect for tonight's bash.

Essie New Year's Eve Metallics collection nail polish

Essie Dive Bar Collection 6 pcs

Here we are on the eve of New Year's eve and I've been seeing these Essie New Year's Eve Metallics
collection displays EVERYWHERE.  Essie's New Year's Eve Metallics are a re-promotion of six, already existing Essie colors.  The collection is made up of Dive Bar, Steeling the Scene, Jamaica Me Crazy, Sexy Divide, Trophy Wife and Over the Top.  Steeling the Scene and Over the Top were originally released for the Winter 2007 collection.  Sexy Divide is from Winter 2008.  Then, Essie had gone retail at the end of 2010/beginning of 2011 and released 11 exclusive retail shades...Dive Bar, Jamiaca Me Crazy and Trophy Wife were three of the 11.

Essie says, "Ring in the New Year with our sexy metallics, the perfect way to light up your midnight".

So, let's take a peek at the colors and see if you want to wear any of them for New Year's or beyond.

Essie Dive Bar is described as "a mysterious blackest blue with shimmer".  It's a blackened shimmery teal that takes 3 coats to be fully opaque.

Essie Dive Bar
Essie Steeling the Scene is described as "burnished pewter cream", but to me it's more of a frosty platinum color.  This one also took three coats for complete coverage and has some streaking issues.

Essie Steeling the Scene
Essie Jamaica Me Crazy is described as "a spirited magenta with shimmer" and this description is definitely accurate...it's a shimmery vibrant magenta.  It's got a little bit more purple to the base than what is coming out in this picture.  Here it looks more of a hot pink in the indoor light.
Essie Jamaica Me Crazy
Essie Sexy Divide is hands down my favorite of this collection and one of my favorites, anyway.  Sexy Divide is described as "a bold deep purple with hints of shimmer".  This one is a gorgeous deep royal shimmery purple. It's BEAUTIFUL...
Essie Sexy Divide
Essie Trophy Wife is described as "a perfect deep teal pearl".  It's a nice bright shimmery teal.
Essie Trophy Wife
Last up, Essie Over the Top is described as "a dramatic metallic midnight silver", that I would describe as a deep gunmetal with shimmer.

Essie Over the Top
The Essie Dive Bar/New Year's Eve Metallics collection is now available at most salons and online at most e-tailers for around $8.00.

NOTD - MAC Hyperion and Revlon Whimsical nail polish

MAC Hyperion and Revlon Whimsical
I'm loving today's nails!  What's not to love...a beautiful very pale dusty aqua blue creme with a sparkly glitter overcoat.

MAC Hyperion is a part of the new Daphne Guinness collection that was released on Monday, December 26th!  There are two other colors as a part of the collection, but Hyperion was the only one that I really wanted out of the three.

MAC Hyperion
MAC Hyperion
MAC Hyperion was THE PERFECT base for Revlon Whimsical.  Whimsical is the exact dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air.  It's a pale aqua blue sheer base with small iridescent glitter and larger hexagonal aqua and pink glitter.

MAC Hyperion and Revlon Whimsical
MAC Hyperion and Revlon Whimsical
MAC Hyperion is now available at all MAC counters and retails for $15.00.  Revlon Whimsical retails for around $5.00.  I found mine at my local Bed, Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago and recently also saw it at Harmon.

CHANEL Rose Confidential and Revlon Sparkling nail polish

For Pink Wednesday, I chose Revlon Sparkling layered over CHANEL Rose Confidential.  It fits with the glitter theme for the week.

Revlon Sparkling is one of the new releases that the company has recently put out.  They've really done a bang up job coming up with all sorts of colors and glitters.  Sparkling is a clear base with warm pink small round and larger hexagonal glitter pieces.  Sparkling is pretty sheer on it's own and really needs to be layered on top of another color.  So, I chose a color closest to the pink glitter pieces...CHANEL Rose Confidential.  Rose Confidential is a warm dusty medium pink creme.  I used two coats to get full opacity.

L'Oreal "Because You're Worth It" and LA Splash "Night Owl" nail polish

L'Oreal Because You're Worth It and LA Splash Night Owl
I paired up two colors that I recently picked up at my local Harmon's to create a nice New Year's mani.  L'Oreal Because You're Worth It with LA Splash Night Owl.  While browsing, my eye caught LA Splash Night Owl...it' a gorgeous blackened gold and holographic glitter polish is an sheer black base.  I wasn't going to add it to my basket...what would I possibly wear it with?!?!?  LOL.  Then I noticed a new L'Oreal display of their Winter collection.  Of the four colors, I saw a really nice shimmery bronze-y gold...L'Oreal Because You're Worth It.  In the bottle L'Oreal Because You're Worth It is the frost with very fine gold micro-shimmer, but on the nail, the micro-shimmer isn't really visible.

I put the two bottles next to one another and PERFECT!  They're very pretty on their own, but together...KA-POW!

Kate Winslet's Golden Hat Foundation Lancôme nail vernis 003

Lancôme 003 promo pic
Now that Christmas is over and everyone is looking forward to New Year's...here a great color to kick start New Year's week off with...Lancôme 003.  This was created by Lancôme ambassador Kate Winslet, who teamed up with the makeup company to create a product line to benefit her Golden Hat Foundation.  Kate Winslet created this charity to help children with autism and raise autism awareness.  Her mini-makeup line includes an illuminating face powder, lipsticks and five mini nail polishes.  Four of the five nail colors are of the pink and red spectrum...but, then there is 003!

Lancôme 003 is a very sparkly pale gold/sliver glitter in a clear base.  The glitter is of decent size and it can be built up with a few coats for opacity or can be worn over another color.  The color of the glitter is also very versatile...it is not really gold, yet, not really silver...more of a "gilver" (a gold silver).  I used three coats here and it is pretty opaque.  Perfect for New Year's!

Lancôme 003 and the rest of Kate Winslet's Golden Hat Foundation makeup collection can be found at all Lancôme counters now.

Christmas 2011 - NOTD - Color Club R29 exclusive "Wine Cooler" nail polish

Wine Cooler
Wine Cooler
VERY Quick nail of the day post.  This was a part of my Holiday gift from my friend, Jackie...she knows I love nail polish and tends to get nail polish for most of my gifts.  Of course, I don't mind at all...considering last year, she gave me Chanel Riva...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that color.

The color I'm wearing on my nails today is a color called Wine Cooler from the Color Club exclusive line for refinery29.  Refinery29 is an online magazine that is great read on a daily basis.  This year Color Club and refinery29 collaborated on a six color collection to create "the only nail colors that you will need this season".  The collection is called The Winter Warrior and only available on the refinery29 website.

Wine Cooler is a beautiful "wine" colored jelly polish with hot pink shimmer.  Check it out.

The Color Club Winter Warrior set is available here.  The entire set of six polishes retails for $29.00 and ships for free.

Deborah Lippmann Deck the Halls Jazz CD and nail lacquer set

Just in time for Christmas weekend...I have this trio of colors by Deborah Lippmann called "Deck the Halls".  The set also includes a CD that Deborah Lippmann sings some Christmas songs on.  It seems that she is also a singer, as well as, a celebrity manicurist.  I guess the CD is nice to include...

Anyway, moving onto the colors...although, they not all totally unique, I really do like the red!  The trio of mini polishes includes Angels, O' Holy Night and Deck the Halls.

Deborah Lippmann Angels is a PERFECT red jelly!  I had to use three coats to achieve the look I loved wearing this one...it's ideal for the season.  It dried super smooth and glossy.

Deborah Lippmann Angel
Deborah Lippmann Angel
Deborah Lippmann O' Holy Night is described as "iridescent light blue-green", but I would say it's more of an iridescent off-white pearl shimmer on the nails.  At certain angles the "blue-green" is seen, but it's not as obvious, as in the bottle.

Deborah Lippmann O' Holy Night
Deborah Lippmann O' Holy Night
No Deborah Lippmann set would be complete without a glitter...Deck the Halls is a sheer red base with mostly small red glitter and some medium holographic glitter.  Since it's a sheer, I layered it on top of Angels.  It dries a little bumpy and has a slight matte appearance, so a topcoat is definitely necessary.  Initially, when I layered this over Angels, I was a little bummed, since it looked so pretty and smooth and shiny...but, then the glitter grew on me a little bit.  I still prefer Angels on it's own.
