Sephora by OPI Bohemian Brights - "What Aura Gonna Wear?" and "It's Totally Karma" Nail Polish

Bohemian Brights Mini Nail Colour Set ($32 Value)

For Pink Wednesday, I've got What Aura Gonna Wear? from the new Sephora by OPI Bohemian Brights Collection.  I picked up the six piece mini set that has a few brights, a few neutrals and a few shimmers.

Sephora by OPI What Aura Gonna Wear? is described simply as a bright pink.  What Aura Gonna Wear? is a nice hot pink with slight blue undertones jelly-like creme.  I used two coats here for full coverage.
Sephora by OPI What Aura Gonna Wear?
Alongwith, What Aura Gonna Wear?, I also have Sephora by OPI It's Totally Karma, to complete the "brights" part of this collection.  It's Totally Karma is also described simply as a bright green.  It's Totally Karma is a vibrant fresh spring grass green creme.  This one was also an easy one to apply with only two coats for full coverage.
Sephora by OPI It's Totally Karma
The six piece mini set of the Sephora by OPI Bohemian Brights set is now available at Sephora for $24.50.

MAC Cook Collection Al Fredo Nail Polish

Currently, MAC cosmetics has a couple of collections out right now and one of them is "Shop" and the other is the "Cook" collection.  Today, we're looking at one of the "Cook" nail polish colors...MAC Al Fredo.  I am absolutely LOVING this color (probably the only one out there).  It is such an odd color that this is the ONLY one that I picked up from both of the collections.  All the other colors seem been there and done that.

MAC Al Fredo is an acid yellow-green sheer jelly polish.  I really had no issues applying it...it IS very sheer and needs about four good coats to get this look.  I know it's still pretty sheer, but for some reason...I'm really drawn to it.

MAC Al Fredo
MAC Al Fredo is available now at all MAC counters and retails for $16.00.

Am I the only one loving this polish?  What do you guys think?

Until next time...

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream and On the Beach Nail Polish for Spring 2012

"I found inspiration for my Spring 2012 lacquers from the beach this season! I wanted to create something that felt like a vacation no matter where you are; whether you're away or just dreaming of it.

The vibrant blue and shimmering green shades evoke a peaceful, relaxing feel that reminds me of being seaside. To me, these colors express that easy, breezy and carefree feeling you would have on vacation, which I'm hoping you'll channel every time you look at your nails."
-Deborah Lippmann

Welcome to Monday morning with a nice color and glitter punch.  Today, I have two beautiful Deborah Lippmann shades for you.  Mermaid's Dream and On the Beach.

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream is a very pretty sea foam green pearl-y sheer with sea foam green, turquoise and gold glitter.  I used three coats for full coverage.  The polish does dry to a "satin-like" finish, so if you like your colors glossy, a top coat is definitely needed.

I wanted to evolve from my signature glitters and develop something that was more universal and glamorous with a satin-like finish. The combination of shimmer and pearl used in Mermaid's Dream is the perfect evolution, and the result is wearable and unique." -Mermaid's Dream, as described by Deborah Lippmann

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream
Deborah Lippmann On the Beach is a beautiful vibrant turquoise crelly.  I used three coats here for full coverage....just amazing.

"On the Beach is the French Riviera in a bottle. Even if you can't get there physically, you will be reminded of beautiful bodies of water when you look down at your nails or toes." - Deborah Lippmann
Deborah Lippmann On the Beach
Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream and On the Beach can be purchased wherever Deborah Lippmann polishes are sold (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Barneys, HSN, deborahlippmann.com).  They retail for $16.00 each.

Dior Underground Nail Polish

Continuing with the Dior Rock Your Nails collection...today, let's take a look at Dior Underground.  Dior Underground is a is dusky, almost greyed out dark brown.  Once again, this one shows the subtle silver micro shimmer only in the bottle and when wet...a creme like finish when dry.  This one was a little sheer with the application and required three coats to become opaque.

Dior Underground
Dior Underground is available at www.dior.com.

Dior Perfecto Nail Polish

Today, I have another color from Dior's Rock Your Nails collection.  Dior Perfecto is a deep charcoal grey.  This one also shows the subtle silver micro shimmer when wet, but dries to a creme like finish.  I used two coats here.  Although, Perfecto was originally introduced as a part of the Rock Your Nails collection, it has become a permanent color and is not limited edition.

Dior Perfecto
Dior Perfecto is available at most Dior counters and at www.dior.com.

Dior Blue Label Nail Polish

I've been seeing these stunning Dior ads, featuring Natalie Portman.  Besides the fast that she looks stunning, I was completely in awe of the dark nail polish color.  Then, as if, Dior was reading my mind...I actually saw this in a magazine and the nail color was listed!  It's Dior Blue Label...so, I ran to my drawer...and there it was!  Now, here it is for you to see.  Dior Blue Label was originally introduced for Spring/Summer 2011, as a part of the "Rock Your Nails" collection.

Dior Blue Label is a dusky greyish navy blue.  It the the most subtle silver micro shimmer in the bottle and when first applied to the nail.  But, once the polish dries, it is more or less a creme.  I used two coats here for perfect coverage.

Dior Blue Label
Dior Blue Label is still available at www.dior.com.

OPI Sea Ya Later, Sailor Nail Polish

Quickie Fat Tuesday post...OPI Sea Ya Later, Sailor is originally from The Summer 2008 Collection.  Sea Ya Later, Sailor is a very sheer pale shimmery sea-green/blue with aqua, purple and pink micro-shimmer.  I had to use four coats to achieve this look.  It would also look great over another dark color, navy, purple or black.

OPI Sea Ya Later, Sailor
OPI Sea Ya Later, Sailor may still be found at come e-tailers and retails for around $8.00.

Until next time...

HAPPY FAT TUESDAY TO ALL!

Maybelline Tulip Tango Nail Polish

I VERY recently noticed a new Maybelline nail polish display at CVS for their new Spring color collection.  As with most Spring collections, this also includes bright oranges, warm pinks, vibrant corals and punchy purples.  The one that spoke most to me was Tulip Tango.

Maybelline Tulip Tango is a bright melon-y coral that went on very easy and was opaque in two coats.  The other great thing about this particular collection is that the colors are "Express Finish" and are touted to be "50 second nail colors".  All I know is that I applied this at 11pm at night and went to bed soon after with no smudges. So, I guess it works well with the dry time!  I did notice that this one chipped very easily...hence, the little chip on the ring finger.  Other than that, fabulous spring and summer color.
Maybelline Tulip Tango
Maybelline Tulip Tango is now available at most drugstores and retails for around $5.00.

Essie Sandy Beach Nail Polish

I'm leaving the actual sandy beaches of Florida for New York today...but, am enjoying Essie Sandy Beach on my nails.

Essie Sandy Beach is a nude beige/sand colored sheer jelly.  It's very sheer and I used four coats here.  With one coat, it just looks like your natural nails, but shiny.  Two coats builds up slightly better, three coats would work for most people.  It's a great neutral and could even be used for a beige-y french manicure.

Essie Sandy Beach
Essie Sandy Beach can be purchased wherever Essie colors are sold and retails for around $8.00.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze Nail Polish

Happy Saturday!  Today, we're taking a peek at a beautiful purple...Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze is a "vivid violet".  Purple Haze is a very pretty medium purple creme.  Of course, since it's a Rescue Beauty Lounge color, it's super saturated and a breeze to apply.  I used two coats here.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze
Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze is available at www.rescuebeauty.com for $18.00.

China Glaze For Audrey Nail Polish

[blue.jpg]

Quick peek at China Glaze For Audrey nail polish.  For Audrey is the closest you can get to the Tiffany blue...hence, the reference to Audrey Hepburn's "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

China Glaze For Audrey is an elegant and beautiful Tiffany-esque robin's egg blue creme.  I used just two coats here for this gorgeous manicure.  I couldn't stop staring at my nails...stunning (if I say so, myself).

China Glaze For Audrey
China Glaze For Audrey is available at Sally's Beauty Supply and most retailers online for around $6.00.

Zoya Jancyn Nail Polish

I've been watching this color at my local beauty supply store for months...they've had this sole bottle of Zoya Jancyn, without a home, just sitting there on the shelf, next to the rest of the Zoya's.  Each of the other Zoya's have their own spot and friends, on the display.  Poor Jancyn was friendless and homeless...so, I HAD to rescue it and bring it home with me, RIGHT!  I noticed it each and every time I went to the store...how could I not?

Zoya Jancyn was originally introduced as a part of the Zoya Flash Collection from Summer 2010.  Jancyn is such a beautiful bright and vibrant tangerine colored creme.  It was a little streak-y, but evened out after three coats.  Perfect for the summer-y Florida weather.

Zoya Jancyn
Zoya Jancyn can be purchased at www.zoya.com for $8.00.

Essie Miami Nice Nail Polish

For Pink Wednesday, I picked Essie Miami Nice.  I'm keeping with the pink theme and also I'm in the warm FLORIDA sunshine and not in the kooky New York weather.  I've swapped out the 'cold one day, warm the next' weather for the warm southern Florida sunshine until Sunday.  So, I've got "Florida" inspired manicures for the next few days...or at least "Florida" inspired in my mind.

Essie Miami Nice is a bright hot pink jelly with a purple iridescence.  Although, it's a jelly, it is slightly thicker than most jellys and I used only two coats to get full coverage.

Essie Miami Nice
Essie Miami Nice is available at all Essie retailers and available for around $8.00.

Chanel Dragon Nail Polish

Happy Valentine's Day!

Out of all the reds that I have, my pick for Valentine's Day is Chanel Dragon.  Which is perfect, since we just had the Chinese New Year and it's The Year of the Dragon!

What a great red...it's an ideal rich saturated red creme, not too orange, not too blue...just beautiful.  I've worn Chanel Dragon many times and adore it each and every time I wear it.  It is absolutely the most perfect Chanel red there is.

Chanel Dragon
Chanel Dragon is available at all Chanel counters and at www.chanel.com for $26.00.

Chanel "Roses Ultimes De Chanel" Valentine's Day Nail Polish Collection

Nails

Just in time for Valentine's Day 2012, Chanel has released four exclusive romantic colors.  Of the four, not one is a red...a little unusual.  The colors are Chanel Tentation, Chanel Frisson, Chanel Attraction and Chanel Distraction.

Starting with Chanel Tentation.  Tentation is a very vivid fuchsia pink metallic.  It has the same look as Chanel Rouge Carat from the Winter Collection.  A nice summer color, definitely.

Chanel Tentation
Chanel Frisson is a very warm pale pink with lots of gold micro-glitter.  This one was the sheerest and I had to use coats here.  Beautiful for Spring.

Chanel Frisson
Chanel Attraction is shown as a pale "Graphite" color in the promo pic above, it is no where near that.  Attraction is an almost cool icy white metallic in the bottle...looks super cool.  Not so cool on the nails, it's streaky frosty mess.  Although, it was very saturated and opaque, only needed 2 coats for full coverage, it's a lost cause in the streakiness department.

Chanel Attraction
Last up, Chanel Distraction.  Distraction is a warm coral/salmon color with the signature Chanel micro shimmer.  The micro-shimmer doesn't show up well on the nail and looks more creme.  This one was also a two coater.  Excellent for Spring and Summer.

Chanel Distraction
The Chanel Valentine's Day colors, "Roses Ultimes De Chanel" can now be purchased exclusively, at www.chanel.com.  Each one retails for $26.00.

Until next time....

Dior - Les Rouges: Trafalgar, Gruau and IcĂ´ne Nail Polishes

So, we're a day from Valentine's Day and I have three colors for you today.  Les Rouges by Dior is a collection of three colors inspired by the history of The House of Dior.  Dior Trafalgar, Gruau and IcĂ´ne were a part of a limited edition release for Fall 2011 and sold out instantly.

Dior Trafalgar is described as a "poppy red" and is a bright tomato red creme with the slightest hint of orange to it.  The color is super saturated and was opaque in two coats.

Dior Trafalgar
Next up, Dior Gruau is described as "a powerful red" that is a very rich and saturated brick red creme.  In the bottle it shows some shimmer, but it does not translate onto the nail.  Gruau was also easy to apply, although I used three coats for this one.
Dior Gruau
Dior IcĂ´ne is the deepest of the three and reminds me of a chocolate...or what a red chocolate would look like.   It's a nice rich brownish red shimmer...that is very obvious in the bottle and not so much on the nail.  IcĂ´ne is also nice and saturated...I used two coats here.

Dior IcĂ´ne

Essie Fifth Avenue Nail Polish

Another great Essie color...also, another fabulous pick for Valentine's Day.  Essie Fifth Avenue is a lush, rich super saturated bright tomato red with the slightest hint of orange to it.  It's a great color for anyone!  It's a great color for anytime!  Winter...excellent to brighten the dreary days.  Spring...perfect.  Summer...could any other color be more summer.  Fall...complimentary to navy, olive green, brown, black, etc, etc, etc.

Essie Fifth Avenue.  I used only two coats here.  It dried super quick.

Essie Fifth Avenue
Essie Fifth Avenue
Essie Fifth Avenue is available at any retailer that carries Essie products and retails for around $8.00.

Zoya Delilah Nail Polish

Here's a sparkly Valentine's Day manicure...Zoya Delilah!  I love, love, love this color for more than one reason....the color, the glitter and of course, the name.

Zoya Delilah is described as a "bright red glitter in a cool toned cherry red base".  Zoya Delilah is a beautiful red jelly base loaded with red micro-glitter.  So beautiful...I used two coats here.

Zoya Delilah
Zoya Delilah can be purchased wherever Zoya polishes are sold and retails for around $8.00.

Essie Jag-U-Are Nail Polish

Continuing with the Valentine's Day nail polish colors...I have a great one today.  Essie Jag-U-Are is originally from the Essie Winter 2006 Collection, but is perfect for Valentine's Day, as well.

Essie Jag-U-Are is described simply as "a gorgeous gleaming red".  It is definitely gorgeous!  A perfect cherry red with a metallic/pearl finish.  Each time I wear it...I absolutely LOVE it.  The color is super saturated and was perfect with two coats.

Essie Jag-U-Are
Essie Jag-U-Are is available everywhere Essie is sold and retails for around $8.00.

Illamasqua Obsess Nail Polish

For my pink Wednesday pick, I have another aptly named polish for Valentine's Day...Illamasqua Obsess.  Illamasqua Obsess is described as a "bright fuchsia pink".  When I first put it on the nails, it definitely looked very neon...but, once it dried and wore for a half a day, then Obsess kind of toned down a bit.  I would agree with the color description and looking at my nails, the color fuchsia definitely came to mind.  Although, it is very bright, it is not really a neon.  The only sort of odd thing about the polish is that it dries to a semi-matte finish, so I used a topcoat to get it glossy.

Illamasqua Obsess is a very bright fuchsia creme with purple undertones.  I used three coats here.

Illamasqua Obsess

Illamasqua Obsess can be purchased at Sephora and www.sephora.com for $14.00.

Essie Wild Thing Nail Polish

We're a week away from Valentine's Day and I've got Essie Wild Thing to start the week of pinks and reds.  Essie Wild Thing is a pink-y cranberry-esque red with silver and holographic glitter to it.  It's a great Valentine's Day color...and the name doesn't hurt, either.

Wild thing...you make my heart sing...You make everything Groovy

I used three coats to get full coverage and it's pretty, but for some reason, I'm not really sure if I like this color on ME.

Essie Wild Thing
Essie Wild Thing
Essie Wild Thing can be purchased anywhere Essie products are sold and retails for around $8.00.

Illamasqua Force nail polish

Congratulations to the Giants winning the Super Bowl last night.  I'm not really a football fan...or a sports fan, at all.  But, I am a New York team fan...so, since the Giants won, I'm dedicating today's post to them.

Illamasqua Force is described as "a deep, electric blue" and to me it seems like a slightly greyed out deep periwinkle blue creme...to match the Giants colors.

Illamasqua Force
Illamasqua Force can be purchased at Sephora and at www.sephora.com for $14.00.

Happy Monday.

NOTD - Dior Gris Montaigne Nail Polish

Dior Gris Montaigne

So, the hubby and I went out to dinner with a couple of friends last night and I wore a black/grey combination sort of an animal/leopard print sweater dress...and Dior Gris Montaigne on the nails.  It was a perfect compliment to the dress color combination.  That's the dress and the polish in the picture above.

Dior Gris Montaigne was originally introduced as a part of the Gris Montaigne Spring 2011 Collection by Dior.  Gris Montaigne is what I would describe as more of a medium to dark grey creme.  It went on very smoothly and neatly (thanks to the wonderful Dior brush).  I used two coats here...beautiful and glossy.

Dior Gris Montaigne
Dior Gris Montaigne
Dior Gris Montaigne is still available at www.dior.com for $22.00.

Happy Sunday and good luck to whichever team you are rooting for the Superbowl!

Until next time...

Essie Bold and Beautiful nail polish

I have an oldie but a goodie for you today.  Essie Bold and Beautiful is a warm wine jelly-like creme with red undertones, that is perfect for January.  It is originally from Essie's Winter 2008 collection.  It's a great vampy color...that is not too dark, yet is not too red.  It is BOLD and it's very BEAUTIFUL.  It's a little on the sheer side and I used three coats here.

Essie The Bold and The Beautiful
Essie Bold and Beautiful can be purchased anywhere Essie products are sold and retails for around $8.00.

Deborah Lippmann Money Now Sleep Later Nail Polish

Day Four of Deborah Lippmann...I figure I'll just make a week of it at this point.  Today, let's take a look at Deborah Lippmann Money Now Sleep Later.  This one is also a Barneys New York exclusive.  I got this one as a part of my Barneys haul.  Money Now Sleep Later is a dark teal/purple duo chrome.  It took three coats to get full opacity and of course, is a beauty.

Deborah Lippmann Money Now Sleep Later
Here's a different look...the purple part of the duo chrome is slightly more visible.

Deborah Lippmann Money Now Sleep Later
Deborah Lippmann Money Now Sleep Later is available at Barneys New York and at www.barneys.com for $16.00.

Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee Nail Polish

My pick for Pink Wednesday...Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee.  As I've mentioned before, Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee was one of the first, if not the very first, Deborah Lippmann colors that I purchased many, many years ago.  Even now, about 10 years later, it's still a favorite of mine.

Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee is a gorgeous bright hot orchid pink with the finest pink and blue micro-shimmer.  It's very saturated and was opaque in two coats.  I ended up using three coats to even everything out.  I enjoy wearing this every time I put it on...this time around, I wore other really bright colored clothing with it...orange, teal, lime green.  It was perfect with all of them, especially an orange cable-knit sweater.

Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee
Deborah Lippmann Makin' Whoopee is available everywhere Deborah Lippmann polishes are sold and each retails for $16.00.
